Yikes! I know way to long of a break from checking in here on the blog.
I have been making great strides recently with the quality of my recording production. Taking a few lessons here and there has helped me make up some ground.
Coming back to the age-old concept. When does one know when to stop, or when is this song truly done? The past few weeks I have been working on cleaning up some early songs to this project. In hindsight I think this is has been a good decision. The track currently titled “In This House” has been reworked to a better place. I re-did vocals on the chorus and made for a better conclusion to the song. The drums have been completely reworked and it sounds fantastic. I have been improving my sidechaining techniques for the drums which has made a great deal of progress. Plus the addition of building out drum flavors for tracks helps give them their own signature and style.
I have even found some time to work on a few new tracks this week. A track currently called “Haunted” has really taken a nice turn with showcasing my vocal range. Most of the time I find I get caught up on writing vocals. Sometimes it comes easy, and most of the time it comes hard. I would say I tend to rewrite vocal parts often. Rewriting repeatedly, one could say. Hey, if it’s not working now, it’s not going to be any better tomorrow.
